Fishing & Golf

The numerous clear and fast flowing rivers that come down from Portugal’s mountains to the east of the villa are full of trout, perch, pike and many other varieties. As the locals do not seem overly keen on fishing as a sport, it is extremely rare to have any ‘competition’ for the best spots. As well as this, there are a number of artificial dams and reservoirs in the area, often set in beautiful landscapes, ideal for carp and other still water types.

Fancy a round of golf?

If golf is your game there are two world famous courses within easy reach. Praia d’El Rey is to be found within a 70-minute drive. Spectacularly situated on the cliffs above the Silver Coast north of Lisbon, it has twice hosted the European Cup and regularly rates in the world’s top 50 courses. A little further, the Troia Golf Championship site is 15km south of the capital and was voted 4th best in Europe by Golf Magazine ‘Top European Courses’ in 2005. Both have reasonable green fees and golfing equipment to rent.
